About Pedro
After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I started working as northern bobwhite research technician at Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, University of Georgia. I was responsible for investigating fine scale resource selection and vital rates of northern bobwhites by using radiotelemetry and vegetation surveys. I have also worked with Tall Timbers Research Inc., a position that has enriched my fieldwork experience in bobwhite research by allowing me to use techniques such as, thermal imagery, covey counts, and measuring predator index by hawk counts and scent stations. I was then employed by Dr. James Martin, to help lead a telemetry project with University of Georgia at Mt. Pleasant plantation in South Carolina. This project is a newly established research study at the property, using my skills from my previous positions, I was able to shape it into a well-functioning study by relocating birds that were missing and adjusting the data collection format to allow for better Furthermore, I have acquired skills on the identification of plants commonly used by upland species as we have conducted around 500 vegetation surveys to identify vegetation preferences for bobwhite quail nesting locations. I also learned how to deploy Autonomous recording units (ARU) used for call count to estimate population density. By shadowing highly qualified scientists, I have learned about managing conservation projects and developing recommendations for implementing conservation plans. I am also experienced in data collection, using the R software, ArcGIS Survey123 and various statistical techniques to analyze data.

I have been a tutor all through college and university, I have taught courses like introduction to chemistry, organic chemistry and math and even a little of statistics. I am currently a Biologist and I work out on the field collecting data and analyzing data, but on my free time I love to help students to understand and get better grades on their courses
