About Sougata
I am currently doing my master's degree in Microbiology. I love Biology because I understand Biology. I try to do the same for my students, learning becomes easier when a student finds the subject interesting. I strongly disagree with rote learning as the texts are often forgotten after the exams. When the concepts are clear, the knowledge gets hardwired into the brain. This is very important as biology is a subject which helps us in our daily life.

At the primary and secondary school level, students often struggle to grasp the concepts of biology because of the long paragraph structure of the textbooks. As a tutor, I like to bypass these long texts as a reference and only focus on the major points of a chapter. A flow chart along with a simple diagram is easier for a student to learn and understand than two pages of paragraphed text. My mindset as a teacher is to cure the boredom and make biology interesting for the students, hence the learning becomes easier. For the revision part, I prefer to give conceptual questions so that students think before they answer. When they learn, they can think.
