About Kate
I am currently studying towards a Professional Master of Geospatial Science and Technology at the University of Canterbury. I have previously worked as an engineer for two years after completing my BE in Engineering Science in Auckland.
I enjoy tutoring because it is a great feeling being able to help someone understand something they've been struggling with and seeing students achieve their goals. Sometimes a slightly different approach to a problem will make everything suddenly make sense, and that is a great moment to be a part of.
Outside of work and study, I am a keen outdoor adventurer. I like to spend my free time tramping, climbing and mountain biking.

I have 3 years of experience in tutoring while I was studying towards my Bachelor of Engineering. I took a break while I was working full time as an engineer for 2 years, and am now getting back into tutoring while I study towards my masters. I have previously tutored NCEA level 1-3 chemistry and physics. I was also a Part 1 Assistance Centre Peer Mentor at the University of Auckland, providing tutoring and advice for first year engineering students.
My lessons are generally 1-2 hours long. I start by asking questions and getting my students to work through some example questions so I can see what they are struggling with. We will then go back and work through concepts to ensure they understand everything, and then build back up to working through practice questions together and then independently.
