Verity and I were classmates for our A level exams, and she could tell that I was struggling keeping up with classwork. So she volunteered to help me outside class, starting with the basics to make sure that I had fundamental understandings of the texts that we were studying, and gradually built up to in-depth analysis and the wider context behind the books. She was instrumental to my success as a student and helped me when the teachers didn't want to take the time to do so. She was very patient and always offered constructive advice to help me.
