About Devika
Hello,
My name is Devika and I will be your ESOL tutor if I am given the opportunity. I have done my Masters in Linguistics from the University of Calcutta, India ( NZQA approved Level 9 ). I am looking forward to meet you and guide you through learning English and help you achieve your goals in your respective fields. First of all I would like to introduce myself, I have been teaching ESOL for over 6 years now. I chose ESOL because of the diversity of students that I get to meet and the different global cultures I get introduced with. An ESOL tutor not only gives the student the required English knowledge, but also learns about their language, culture and perspective which makes it a very wholesome process. Currently I am an ESOL tutor with English Language Partners, New Zealand.

My teaching methodology is mostly learner centred. I believe it is good to start with what areas of development my ESOL learner is looking for and carry on from there. My class usually lasts for about an hour where I try to encourage my learner to participate actively, thereby enhancing their confidence and skills. My lesson are for students who are in level 1 or 2 or doing some foundation studies. this usually includes students from age group 17 to 21.
