About Owen
As a guitar tutor with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music, I strive to make every lesson fun, engaging, and educational while helping students grow as musicians. I start by teaching the fundamentals—posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone control—then gradually introduce improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is woven into lessons in an accessible way, showing students how it applies to real songs. Each lesson is personalized, keeping the student's pace, goals, and interests in mind, while encouraging creativity and self-expression. I emphasize both technical skill and expressive confidence, ensuring students feel comfortable playing in any setting. Ear training, sight-reading, and performance practice are integral parts of my approach. I provide structured practice routines and feedback to support consistent progress. I encourage exploration across genres, from classical and jazz to rock, pop, and blues. I celebrate milestones and motivate students to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow.
