About Alyson
I have a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biology and a minor in Biochemistry and am currently a Master of Science in Epidemiology student. I have been a teaching assistant for 5 undergraduate level courses and as such am confident in making lesson plans for undergraduate-level Biology, Epidemiology, Statistics, Chemistry, and Biochemistry courses. I also nannied during COVID and was responsible for managing the children's education when school was moved online. As such, I am also confident in making lesson plans for middle school to high school students who require help in Science, English, or Math.

My teaching methodology is flexible and collaborative. During our first session, we will discuss your goals for our tutoring sessions and your preferred learning methods. I will then tailor our tutoring sessions to fit your goals and preferred learning styles. Our tutoring sessions will always end with time for reflection on what we covered in the session and what is still unclear/needs more practice.
A typical lesson plan:
- Establish the goals for the session
- Review content by having the student explain their knowledge on the subject matter from which I will identify and help to fill in gaps
- Go over examples in detail
- Student practice time
- Review student work
- Reflection on the session
