About Diane
From early childhood on, I've had a passion for the written word, and a special interest in story development and different communication styles. By middle school, I knew my life would be focused on writing, and non-fiction/journalism in particular. Reading and writing were my escape, my window into better understanding human behavior and history, and avenues for deepening my natural and genuine curiosity about...pretty much everything. I have a bachelor's degree in English from SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island, and a master's degree in Journalism & Mass Communications from New York University in Manhattan. I worked in television and internet news for NBC, WNBC, MSNBC and several local TV stations for 10+ years, then transitioned into college marketing, communications, and public information work for 17 years. I've taught English and History of Film classes part time at the college level for over 10 years, and have worked as a writing tutor and substitute English teacher, supporting community college students from all backgrounds along with educating justice-involved students trying to learn in truly unenviable environments. I champion diversity, and strongly agree that with the right support, anyone can learn, improve, and reach their goals.

Learn how to produce quality, multi-paragraph essays that grab great grades!
We'll start your learning with how to construct a compelling thesis and first paragraph that creates a simple road map for 3-4 paragraph essays that are logically structured and a joy to read.
With that solid foundation of skills in place, you'll be able to tackle much longer papers without losing flow or meaning. A large essay project becomes easily manageable when you know how to structure and create a logical sequence of ideas.
Once you master crafting the opening paragraph, creating a clear, concise compare/contrast or argumentative paper with 3-4 paragraphs becomes second nature, through practice.
Learning practical essay writing skills can prepare you for academic success in most subjects, and builds a foundation for better writing skills that you can use for multiple purposes: business emails, cover letters, proposals and much more!
We'll also work on your analytical reading skills, vocabulary growth, and grammar supremacy. Tutoring sessions will be tailored to improve areas of concern for you, and turn them into strengths!
