About Kristin
I'm an American currently living in Australia. Before this, I spent 2 years teaching English in Japan on the JET program and 2 years teaching in France on the TAPIF program. I found a real passion for language acquisition and education and decided to pursue a Master in TESOL. When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with all dogs but especially my dog, Sonny. I am a certified ski instructor and spent several years teaching in the Rocky Mountains. I love the outdoors and am so excited to explore the Tasmanian wilderness.

My first goal in every lesson is to build rapport and create an environment where students feel comfortable, which is crucial to language acquisition! As a student of French and Japanese, I am aware of the anxieties students may face in practising a second language.
I have spent the last year teaching IELTS speaking and writing workshops at Flinders University in South Australia and now I'd like to offer my services in Launceston and the surrounding area.
Every lesson begins with a check-in to assess what exactly students are struggling with and what their goals are. My lessons are student-centred and require participation, no long-winded descriptions or lectures. The best way to improve is by doing and I want to maximise time spent actively practising.
Students are welcome to book lessons for any length of time, but minimum 30 minute lessons are recommended to fully assess and meet students' needs.
