About Eddie
I didn't always enjoy mathematics, especially within the classroom environment, so I understand the struggles that come along with learning it. You are not alone, and my goal is to help you ignite/reignite your love for math and get those grades.
I am a highly motivated person, and love to share this energy with others. I am down to earth, and being a type 1 diabetic, I understand that unforeseen issues can hinder learning at the worst of times. Life isn't all about school and you don't just have all day to work through problems.
I am a passionate teacher and have gained a myriad of experience in schools in Dunedin and Invercargill.

As a trained teacher, I utilise a variety of pedagogical techniques to support students with their educational journey. My teaching philosophy utilises Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development, where students work closely with their peers and teacher to solve challenging problems as a team. The world is run by teams of people putting their heads together after all! This idea can often get lost in maths, which has a very competitive nature in a lot of classes unfortunately, so I try my utmost to change this stereotype.
I will scaffold problems within the tutorials, building up students' confidence slowly, as well as create tasks design to test individual skills to better inform me on what skills the student needs extra time on.
I am very familiar with the NZ Curriculum and hence understand exactly which skills have higher bearing on a student's performance and grades. This allows me to tailor my tutorial sessions with a student's specific achievement goals and needs catered for.
