About Sandra

I have been a teacher for 42 years in both public and private schools. I have worked with students who needed some extra help as well as those preparing for Advanced Placement exams and ACT/SAT tests. Students I have tutored for the national tests have qualified for the Duke TIPS program and as a National Merit Scholar. Students in my AP classes generally score high enough for college credit. I had a senior last year who received 31 hours of credit for his AP scores.

About the lesson

Learning can be fun...grammar is not just a collection of rules. It actually makes sense. I can explain straightforward, easy-to-follow strategies for conquering standardized tests and writing essays that engage the reader. No matter where you are, we can make progress as I will design the lessons to fit your needs.

Sandra was my high school English teacher for the last three years, and she is truly excellent! Her 40+ years of teaching have made her extremely knowledgeable about literature, poetry, writing analysis and other essays, and far more. She is also extremely experienced in helping students prepare for AP exams, the SAT and PSAT, and the ACT—under her guidance, I got a 5 out of 5 on the AP English Language exam and a 770 out of 800 on the English section of the SAT. She is friendly with her students and makes sure to explain even the most difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner! I cannot recommend Sandra enough—you will not regret choosing her!
