About Raahem
I am a passionate student of CS and Math currently pursuing my Master's degree at Simon Fraser University with a focus on Big Data and Machine Learning. I struggled with Math growing up, until I went to a tutor who taught me differently: he radiated passion for the subject, focused on the underlying concepts that people skim over, and helped me develop an intuition for Math. I went from performing poorly in regular math to taking advanced math and even getting an almost perfect score on the SAT Math section. I have experience teaching students of multiple age groups, and have served as a Teaching Assistant for 3 courses at my undergraduate university. I have also been a private Math tutor to many students. I know the impact a good teacher can have on motivation and understanding. That's the role that I want to play for you. I have a simple rule: there are no stupid questions. You can ask me any and everything that comes to mind related to what we are studying, even if it's something we've gone over before; I'd be happy to do it again. I've been there, and I know the importance of a safe space, a teacher who is engaging, and motivates their student to do their best.

I became passionate about math and ended up studying advanced math in high school and university; and it all started with a math teacher who inspired me. I was behind in my math class, doing badly in exams, and went to someone (much like you are considering) after school for help, and he changed math for me! My teaching methodology is simple: I like to keep students engaged with focused lectures that focus on applied examples and solving numerical problems! I do not just teach theory, I teach the very skill and intuition that math demands. I begin my lectures with a brief overview of the topics we will be covering that day. Then I teach a focused lecture, taking questions in between for 35-45 minutes. Within each topic, I make sure to include examples and show how to solve them. At the end, I have a few minutes of interactive learning where I guide students to solve a problem themselves and answer any lingering questions.
