About Lorenz

With 6 years of tutoring experience, I help students stop fearing maths and start understanding it. I teach GCSE, A-Level, and university mathematics, focusing on clear explanations, real understanding, and skills you can use in any question.

In the last 6 years I’ve worked with students who felt “bad at maths,” were behind after school closures, or needed top grades for competitive courses. Together we rebuild foundations, practise problem solving, and learn how to approach questions calmly. I’m big on the “why” behind methods. Once you see why Pythagoras, the chain rule, or a normal distribution works, the steps make sense.

My lessons are relaxed and judgement free. We use diagrams, examples, and plenty of guided practice to make abstract topics feel concrete. From fractions to Fourier series, no question is too small. I set targeted homework, review your working, and track progress so you can see improvement week by week. After 6 years of doing this, I still love the moment when a student says “oh, that’s actually easy.” That’s what I’m here for.

About the lesson

My lessons turn maths anxiety into confidence. For GCSE students, we master algebra, geometry, ratio, and data handling with clear methods you can reuse in any question. At A-Level, we break down differentiation, integration, logarithms, and mechanics into steps that make sense. University students get help with abstract topics, rigorous proof, and applying theorems to real problems.

We learn by doing. Every session mixes short explanations with lots of guided practice. I use visual sketches, number patterns, and real-world examples to show why a method works, not just how to memorise it. You’ll tackle past-paper questions, learn to spot the “trick” in exam phrasing, and practise setting out solutions for full method marks.

I adapt to your pace. If you’re stuck on surds, probability, or complex numbers, we slow down and rebuild from basics. If you’re aiming for an A* or a first, we push with extension problems and deeper understanding. I also teach calculator skills, estimation, and how to check your own work for errors.

Lessons are supportive and judgement free. We celebrate small wins and track progress topic by topic. You’ll leave each session with worked examples, a summary of key steps, and homework that reinforces what clicked. Maths becomes a skill you own, not a subject you fear.
