About Justine

Hello! My name is Justine, and I am passionate about helping students discover that learning can be engaging, meaningful, and empowering. I hold a bachelor's degree in Adventure-Based Counseling and a master's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Psychology. I also have years of experience supporting children and young adults in classrooms, behavioral settings, and individualized learning environments, and I am currently completing my BCBA certification.

I believe every student has the ability to succeed when they are taught in a way that respects their unique strengths and learning style. My teaching is hands-on, interactive, and rooted in trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming practices. Rather than focusing solely on memorization, I help students understand concepts through practical applications, critical thinking, and real-world connections that build lasting confidence.

Whether you're looking for help with psychology, education, study skills, executive functioning, introductory behavior analysis, or academic organization, my goal is to create a supportive space where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating progress. Together, we'll build the knowledge, strategies, and confidence you need to reach your academic goals.

My approach as a tutor is rooted in hands-on, engaging learning that helps students build confidence through meaningful experiences rather than memorization alone. I recognize that every learner is different, so I adapt each lesson to the student's individual strengths, interests, and learning style. I use interactive activities, real-world examples, visual supports, and guided practice to make learning practical, enjoyable, and easy to apply beyond our sessions.

I also take a trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approach to teaching. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace. I understand that attention, sensory needs, anxiety, executive functioning, and communication styles can influence how students learn, so I focus on reducing barriers while building confidence and independence.

A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material, identifying the student's goals, and creating a clear plan for the session. We work together through interactive activities and hands-on practice, checking for understanding along the way. I end each lesson by reviewing key concepts, celebrating progress, and providing strategies students can use independently.

What sets me apart is my background in psychology, education, classroom instruction, and behavior support. I combine evidence-based teaching strategies with patience, flexibility, and genuine encouragement to help students develop lasting skills—not just improve grades. My goal is to help every student become a confident, capable, and independent learner.

I work with elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in psychology, education, study skills, executive functioning, introductory behavior analysis concepts, and RBT exam preparation. I also support learners who benefit from individualized instruction, including those with ADHD, autism, learning differences, or other unique learning needs.
