About Dru

I am a certified educator and teen development coach with dual Master's degrees in Adolescent Developmental Counseling and Teaching English. I have spent years working with middle and high school students in both academic and social-emotional contexts, which gives me a well-rounded understanding of how teens learn, what holds them back, and how to help them move forward with confidence.

My background in both teaching and coaching means I bring more than subject knowledge to every session. I understand the pressure students face — from keeping up with coursework to navigating the college application process — and I know how to make that feel manageable rather than overwhelming.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for middle and high school students who want to build real confidence in reading, writing, and English language arts. Whether a student is struggling to organize their thoughts on paper, preparing for a standardized test, or working on a college application essay, I meet them where they are and help them get where they need to go.

I hold a Master's degree in Teaching English and have years of experience working with teens both in academic and coaching settings. I understand how adolescent learners think, what gets in the way of their progress, and how to make sessions feel productive without being overwhelming.

A typical lesson depends on the student's goals. We might work through essay structure and revision, break down a reading passage for deeper comprehension, practice grammar and mechanics in context, or workshop a college application essay from brainstorm to final draft. I tailor every session to the individual student — no one-size-fits-all worksheets or generic feedback.

What sets my approach apart is that I combine strong academic instruction with an understanding of the whole student. Teens work better when they feel seen and supported, not just corrected. My sessions are focused, encouraging, and built around real progress.
