About Timothy
Too often, classroom settings and/or timed examinations cause undo pressure and anxiety. Math and the sciences can be simple and direct disciplines and actually be fun. Math is no more than a word puzzle with clues to the answer. The trick is to understand what is actually being asked and to use your studies and cleverness to find the solution.
Biology, chemistry and physics are a bit different in that problems have more of a realistic tenor.....a derivative is a mathematical manipulation whereas a chemical reaction can be observed as a real, physical entity.
Neither math nor physical sciences should be intimidating...they are a game with rules, clues and solutions. The effective tutor supplies the pathway to the answer.

As a tutor, I don't supply the answer but produce a path to find the answer. I will review your current state in each discipline and compare that to the academic expectations. Strengths and weaknesses will be addressed and then we will move forward.
Part of my tutoring approach is review of fundamentals with explanations of 'tricks' and short-cuts to solutions. Following adequate preparation, timed exams will be given. I will assess weaknesses and/or room for improvement in the test-taking environment and address accordingly. It is important to make the tutoring somewhat fun (if possible) rather than simply another study hall session.
