About Asher
My guitar teaching approach is centered around building strong musical foundations while allowing room for creativity and expression. I tailor each lesson to the student’s style, pace, and goals—whether you're learning your first chord or composing your next original song. Technique, timing, and tone are key areas we work on, along with practical topics like ear–hand coordination, alternate tunings, and using digital effects for dynamic sound. I also guide students through music theory in simple, hands-on ways, making it easier to apply to real songs. For those interested in structured playing, we explore classical pieces, fingerstyle techniques, and detailed note-reading to build precision and depth. If your focus is on spiritual music or live performance, we work on arrangement, emotional expression, and leadership through sound. Songwriting plays a big role in my sessions—I use real-time challenges to help you write, refine, and perform your own music. You’ll learn how to blend melody and harmony, shape lyrics, and build full songs from scratch. I use tools like looper pedals, effects chains, and DAWs to bring modern production into the learning space.

I started my guitar journey as a curious teenager, teaching myself chords late into the night with nothing but a cheap acoustic and endless YouTube videos. What began as a hobby soon turned into a lifelong pursuit. That passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar), where I honed my craft and deepened my understanding of theory, performance, and songwriting.
Now, with over 3 years of experience as a guitar tutor, I help students turn confusion into clarity—one chord, riff, and groove at a time. My lessons blend patience, humor, and practical hacks that actually stick. Whether you're tackling bar chords or soloing over jazz changes, I break things down in ways that make sense to you.
One of my most loved teaching tools is the “riff breakdown” method—where we slow popular songs down to their bones so you can build them back up with confidence. I also love throwing in real-time songwriting challenges to spark your creativity and strengthen your musical instincts on the spot.
