I am a peer tutor who recently completed the IGCSE curriculum. Because the material is incredibly fresh in my mind, I don't give long, theoretical lectures. Instead, my lessons are strictly results-driven, highly interactive, and focused on practical exam performance.
Here is exactly how a typical 1-hour session is structured:
1. The 10-Minute Concept Breakdown
We start by identifying a specific topic the student is struggling with (e.g., Trigonometry, Quadratic Equations, or Functions). I break down the core formulas and concepts using simple, plain English—no confusing jargon.
2. Step-by-Step Guided Practice
We solve 2 to 3 textbook or past paper examples together. I share my screen using a digital whiteboard to show exactly how to structure the working out so the examiner can award full marks.
3. Solo Execution & Feedback
The student tries a problem on their own while I watch. This allows me to catch small errors instantly—like misreading a sign or skipping a step—before they become bad habits.
