About Vaughn
With 15 years of teaching experience and more than 150 students taught, I am a flute tutor who believes music should be both educational and inspiring. I teach students of all levels, focusing on technical development—breath control, tone, finger agility, and rhythm—while also nurturing creativity and self-expression.
Lessons are personalised to each student’s strengths, goals, and interests, making learning effective and enjoyable. I also incorporate sight-reading, music theory, and performance preparation, helping students develop a complete musical skill set. My mission is to guide students into becoming confident, skilled, and expressive musicians who carry a passion for the flute throughout their lives.

My flute teaching methodology is centred on creating a flexible, collaborative, and encouraging environment where students can thrive. I begin by understanding each student’s learning style and adapting lessons to suit their strengths, pace, and interests. This ensures lessons are engaging, effective, and enjoyable.
Flexibility allows me to modify exercises, repertoire, and practice routines according to the student’s progress and goals. Collaboration is a central element, with students engaging in duets, ensemble practice, and interactive exercises that strengthen confidence, timing, and musical expression. Positivity guides every lesson, fostering an atmosphere where students feel supported, inspired, and motivated to grow.
In addition to flute performance, I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, rhythm exercises, and ear training. My methodology emphasises both technical skill and creative expression, helping students develop into confident, expressive, and passionate musicians with a lifelong love of music.
