About Anna
I've been tutoring math since I was in high school, and I'm now in my 7th year as a tutor. I've helped all my students improve their grades and test scores, as well as feel more comfortable with the material they're working on. As a career performer (I have a master's degree in flute performance), I also have some excellent strategies for improving test-taking skills and dealing with testing anxiety.
My approach is establishing rapport and trust first so that my students feel completely comfortable with me. Often, students who are struggling are embarrassed or anxious, and I structure my sessions so that my students can feel like they can ask me anything at all. I like to address concepts in the simplest possible way, with humor and lightness.

Hi, I'm Anna! Nice to meet you.
I've been a math and test prep tutor for 6+ years, working with students in math from 7th grade through Pre-Calculus. I've worked both privately and with various companies such as Academic Approach and Varsity Tutors, and all of my students have seen marked improvements in test scores and grades, as well as in understanding of the material.
My approach to tutoring is to first foster student understanding in the fundamentals. All mathematical principles essentially build from the same few concepts, so I structure my lessons to build on what my students already know. It's also very important to me to have a good rapport with my students; I take the time to learn about them and their lives. For test prep, I help students approach the test with helpful strategies, then offer suggestions and exercises for dealing with testing anxiety. I want students to feel completely comfortable with me so that they can feel free to ask me any questions or bring up any concerns.
