About Ran
Hello! I am Ran Empredo. I am an international teacher excited to work with you to improve your academic performance in Science. I taught for 11 years in middle and high school in the Philippines and USA. I am an instructor who needs quality results (quite a perfectionist)! I have taught enough to experience that learners are unique in the way they learn content. I am an educator who is very eager to understand how you learn and align my lessons to suit your needs!

My style involves giving opportunities for individual and collaborative work. I am quite flexible with adjusting to a method which I consider appropriate for a certain lesson. My students are quite engaged. This is my first time tutoring but here is how I teach (for you to get a hint of my style): I typically start a new lesson with fun vocabulary activities - either introduction of words we are going to cover in the lesson or from the previous lesson (word search, vocabulary bingo, crossword puzzles, etc.) It is then followed by presentation of the lesson. Vocabulary follows where students race to who gets the right word given the definition, or vice versa. Assignments follow where students use their learning to answer meaningful questions. Lab is an essential component that happens after the assignments. Practice tests come next for mastery. Finally, the lesson is finalized by a 30 to 50 summative test. What sets me apart as a tutor is I am a good listener. I can modify my style depending on the learner's need. I worked with learners who have IEPs therefore I have knowledge on how to modify my lessons to accommodate their needs. My lessons are for middle and high school students who are learning Science. My specialization is Biology and Life Science. However, the 11 years of teaching includes different areas in Science such as Earth Science, Space Science, Physical Science, and Chemistry.
