About Grace

I've been teaching programming for six years, and in that time I've worked with everyone from nervous GCSE beginners writing their first "Hello World" to university students wrestling with dissertation code. My own path into coding started with plenty of confusion and trial-and-error, which is exactly why I understand how frustrating it can feel when concepts don't click straight away, and why patience is at the core of how I teach. Over the years, I've tutored students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Computer Science exams, as well as undergraduates tackling modules in Python, Java, C++, and algorithm design. I've seen firsthand what separates students who merely pass from those who genuinely understand the material, and it usually comes down to strong foundations and consistent, focused practice rather than last-minute cramming. Outside of formal tutoring, I stay hands-on with programming myself, working on personal projects and keeping up with how computer science is taught and assessed, so my advice stays current rather than outdated. I enjoy adapting my teaching style to each student; some want structured, syllabus-driven sessions, others need a more relaxed, exploratory approach. Whatever your starting point, my goal is simple: help you build real skill and genuine confidence, one lesson at a time.

About the lesson

My programming lessons are built around one simple idea: coding should make sense before it becomes second nature. Whether you're tackling GCSE Computer Science, working through A-Level algorithms and data structures, or navigating university-level modules in Python, Java, or C++, I meet you exactly where you are. Every session starts with your specific sticking points: a tricky recursion problem, an exam-style question, or a coursework project that's stalled. I break concepts into digestible steps, use real code examples rather than abstract theory, and encourage you to write and debug code live, so mistakes become learning moments instead of setbacks. I also help with exam technique: how to structure written answers, spot common pitfalls examiners flag, and manage time under pressure. For university students, I can dig into specific frameworks, coursework requirements, or dissertation-related coding. Sessions are relaxed but focused — no jargon overload, no rushing. My goal is for you to leave each lesson genuinely more confident, not just having covered material. I adapt my pace and approach depending on whether you're a complete beginner or already comfortable and pushing towards mastery, and I track your progress across topics so nothing gets left behind before an exam.
