I am a current Master of Biology student at the University of York, able to provide tuition in Biology at any level up to, and including, A-Level and International Baccalaureate. Whilst at school, I gained experience aiding younger students in science subjects.

Biology is a subject for which exams traditionally require large amounts of content to be synthesised, with students regularly expected to draw upon knowledge from across the syllabus and apply it to problems not always explicitly taught. Many students find this aspect of the subject tough, feeling as though they are taught only to memorise content from lessons, and thereby being caught out in exams when expected to understand the wider context of the topics covered.
I place emphasis upon preparing students for this, attempting to help develop problem solving and critical thinking skills relevant to content covered in the syllabus, thus instilling the confidence and ability to think independently when approaching the most challenging exam questions. This is best achieved by ensuring the student has a solid understanding of the basic principles of the course, before focussing on problem-based questions to develop more in-depth learning .
