About Heyang
Hi! I’m Annie from Shanghai, currently studying Statistics and Economics at McGill University in Canada. I have experience teaching IELTS and enjoy helping students learn Mandarin in a fun and approachable way. In my free time, I love watching Chinese dramas, reading web novels, and I’m also a fan of K-pop and Korean shows. I enjoy seeing the world through stories, and I hope to share that passion with you—so you can fall in love with Mandarin while also discovering the real-life culture behind the language.

Whether you’re just starting out or already have some foundation in Mandarin, my classes are tailored to fit your level, pace, and interests.
As a native speaker from Shanghai with previous experience teaching IELTS, I bring both the precision of test-based learning and the warmth of cultural immersion to our sessions. We can focus on daily conversations, pronunciation, vocabulary building, or dive into more advanced topics like reading Chinese short stories, understanding idioms from TV dramas, or even exploring modern Chinese literature—depending on what excites you most.
I believe that learning a language is not just about grammar or vocabulary, but also about connection. That’s why my lessons are interactive and engaging, encouraging you to speak up, make mistakes, and grow with confidence. I’ll provide custom-made materials for every lesson, and I’ll also share extra resources (podcasts, video clips, short texts, etc.) so you can keep learning outside of class.
My goal is to make Mandarin learning enjoyable, structured, and culturally enriching. I also offer a free 30-minute trial class—no pressure, just a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to see if my teaching style works for you.
