About Eilis

I've been tutoring since I was 18, both privately and in centres. I have seen students through secondary school entrance examination, as well as having seen dramatic improvements in the written work of my secondary school students. It has always delighted me to see them develop and achieve fantastic results.

I have taught adults in creative writing workshops as well and received positive feedback. I have also helped my friend who speaks English as her second language with her university assignments and she achieved a First Class Honours on most of these.

I look forward to meeting some of you and helping you as well!

About the lesson

I believe that in education, it is important that children and young people feel respected by their educators and build positive relationships with them. Without this, people do not enjoy learning and often feel less confident. Education should be a personal experience in which the learner is offered a variety of activities which stimulate not only their intellect but their creativity, allowing each individual shine according to their abilities. It is my personal goal to instil everyone I teach with an enjoyment for learning, playing to their strengths so that they may build confidence in themselves.

In my steps towards improving my ability as a role model, I have invested time in planning lessons and coming up with fun activities to increase enthusiasm for learning. I have designed my own resources in the past and have been planning my own lessons (both on a one to one basis and for small groups of children) since the age of 18. Furthermore, spending time working in a nursery in the past has helped me to build my skills both in caring for and entertaining children of a very young age.

I have worked with children and teenagers, and am also open to giving lessons in writing to adults aspiring to write more or learning English as a second language. All lessons will be tailored to each individual student so that you know it is exactly right for you.
