About Joseph
Nice to meet you! I have worked with young people for many years and I enjoy working outside. This is an experiment for me, too, to try teaching through the barrier of the computer.
But I want to use the computer and internet as an invaluable resource. I think that when we are in discussion and have access to a world of knowledge at our fingertips, we should use it, together!

I work well with younger people as a mentor, tutor and educator from my years of experience doing outdoor education. I apply those skills here to make history, English and writing, and Elementary and Middle School level science and math, fun and interesting.
Education is not something to consume or be fed, it is not a resource. Many teachers try to feed their students through lecture and homework; I have found this to be ineffective.
Education is a muscle to be built. My job is more like that of a coach, to encourage students to want to and to find the fun and interesting parts of the subject to the point at which I become unnecessary and the students are teaching themselves.
