I support students of all ages and levels, from GCSE and A-Level through to undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral study. Drawing on my psychology and coaching background (including Level 2 Counselling Skills), I create relationally safe, intellectually rigorous sessions that strengthen focus and reduce overwhelm.

Students typically come to me for help with essay structure, critical analysis, exam technique, research methods and dissertation writing. Sessions are tailored to your assignment and level of study. Whether you are preparing for an exam, developing an essay argument or structuring a dissertation chapter, we focus on clear academic frameworks and practical progress.

In each session, you will receive...
• clear structural strategies for essays and dissertations
• guidance on applying sociological theory effectively
• support with literature reviews and identifying research gaps
• help with methodology and research design
• detailed feedback to strengthen argument and clarity

For students with ADHD or executive functioning challenges, sessions break complex tasks into manageable analytical steps while maintaining high academic standards.

Each session combines discussion, live structural editing and clear written next steps so that you leave with measurable progress.

Learn more about Amraj

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have studied Sociology since my A-Level days many years ago, and my passion for the subject has only grown stronger. Three degrees later, I still have an unshakable thirst for knowledge. My interest in Psychology began at the same time and has taken me on a fascinating journey. I studied Social Psychology as part of my BSc, earned a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, and gained practical experience working alongside a Business Psychologist for several years.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you enjoy discussing with students.

I have taught Classical Sociology at undergraduate level and have developed expertise in the Sociology of Digital Technology, Gender and Sexuality studies, and Medical Sociology. In Psychology, I teach a wide range of topics with a particular interest in Social Psychology and areas of Neuroscience.
  • Did you have any role models or teachers who inspired you?

Yes. Any teacher who made learning enjoyable and accessible left a lasting impression on me. These role models taught me good practice and inspired me to follow in their footsteps.
  • What qualities do you think are essential for a good tutor?

Emotional intelligence, patience, discipline, and kindness. These qualities create an environment where students feel supported and motivated to learn.
  • Share a valuable anecdote from your school days or subject experience.

The lessons that stayed with me were always interactive and engaging. Whether through roleplay or creative methods, these approaches made learning memorable and enjoyable.
  • What challenges have you faced in your subject?

One of the most interesting challenges has been finding the balance between overpreparing and being fully present in the moment. This tension has actually been productive for me. I am very caring and proactive, so I create strong structures and excellent support for my students. At the same time, I allow space for emergence and spontaneity because I value being present during each session. According to my students, this combination makes me an excellent educator.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, a specific element of your subject, or something else?

My passion is making the chaos of learning feel manageable. Education should be enjoyable and accessible despite your learning style and how your brain works. I want students to feel confident and empowered rather than overwhelmed.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these questions)?

I am committed to excellence in my field, but more importantly, I take the pursuit of teaching seriously. Learning is not about repeating facts. It is a collaborative process that requires depth, humility, and creativity. I bring intelligence, structure, and nuance to every session so that students leave feeling inspired and capable.
