About Tony
As a graduate of both the London School of Economics and the University of Oxford (MPhil), I bring a deep academic foundation and a proven teaching track record to every lesson. Over the past five years, I’ve successfully guided more than 50 students—many of them from non-English-speaking backgrounds—towards offers from top UK universities including Oxford and Cambridge. I’m passionate about helping students grasp complex ideas through clear explanations, rigorous logic, and structured guidance. With a professional yet approachable teaching style, I ensure each student receives tailored support that builds both subject mastery and academic confidence. Whether you’re preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, or applying for PPE or related fields, I’ll work with you to develop the clarity, precision, and critical thinking needed to succeed.

1. My Approach to Tutoring I believe that good teaching is not just about knowledge transfer—it’s about making complex ideas simple, and helping students develop clarity of thought and confidence in expression. My lessons typically last 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the student’s needs. I focus heavily on essay structure, argument development, and logical flow, ensuring students can not only understand key content but also communicate it effectively under exam conditions. In Philosophy, I adopt a Socratic teaching style—posing questions, challenging assumptions, and encouraging students to refine their reasoning through dialogue. In Politics and Economics, I use real-world case studies and current events to bring abstract theories to life. I am patient, encouraging, and bring a sense of humour to every session. 2. Qualifications & Experience • MPhil in Area Studies (Politics & International Relations), University of Oxford • Undergraduate degree from the London School of Economics (LSE) • 5+ years of tutoring experience • Founded and led a successful tutoring and college counselling service in 2020. We helped 56 students from mainland China receive offers from Oxford and Cambridge 3. Who I Teach I work with: • GCSE and A-Level students preparing for exams in Politics, Philosophy, or Economics • University applicants targeting PPE or related subjects in the UK (e.g. HSPS, International Relations, etc.) • Ambitious learners who enjoy tackling big ideas and want to strengthen their analytical and essay-writing skills I tailor every lesson to the student’s needs—whether that’s mastering content, developing academic writing, or preparing for Oxbridge admissions.
