About Isabelle

I have always loved fashion, and fell in love with sewing and making from a very young age, when I began to teach myself to make basic sock toys and cushions. Now I am following my dream by working in London as a designer.

When I was applying for fashion degrees at university there was noone around me that had experience and advice in creating my first portfolio and how to make a great application, so now I really want to offer that help to others who want to become fashion students.

My undergrad degree taught me how to drape, how to flat pattern cut and how to make clothes to an extremely high standard. All of these skills then helped me to land my current job in the industry where I use my skills every day in creating catwalk collections for London Fashion Week.

My MA degree at Kingston helped me refine my design sketching skills and how to create the perfect portfolio which defines your creative identity. I also have professional working skills in creating tech packs and can offer step-by-step tutorials on making the perfect technical flats.

About the lesson

ALL AGES WELCOME

I graduated from UCA with a BA in 'Fashion Atelier' - bespoke tailoring and couture design and construction, then I completed my MA in Fashion at Kingston University where I learnt to hone my creativity for the industry and develop my own voice.
I have experience teaching children ages 7-14 how to sew and currently aid a team of interns with garment construction in my job as a designer.

I am looking to share my skills in a range of different areas including: basic sewing, dressmaking, pattern cutting, creating tech packs/ technical flats, portfolio advice for uni applications.

Initially, we would have a FREE 30 minute online consultation to chat about your personalised needs and objectives so we can work on a bespoke class plan. - ALL LEVELS WELCOME-

Some examples of tutorials I can offer:
SEWING

- intro to how to use your sewing machine
- sew a simple garment from a pattern that you have, or an existing garment
- sew a homeware item eg. cushions, makeup bags, tote bags
- hand sewing techniques for all garment types
- how to sew fastenings into clothes eg. zips, buttonholes

PATTERN CUTTING

- create a pattern for a dress, skirt, or top
- alter a pattern that you have bought to fit you perfectly

PORTFOLIO

- give advice on what to include in your portfolio for BA or MA fashion applications
- help with using inDesign and Photoshop to create a beautiful digital portfolio
- Interview practice and how to present your work

TECHNICAL PACK

- learning how to create a technical drawing for beginner/ all levels
- learning how to create a tech pack for your designs

I am also qualified to teach English as a foreign language so am very happy to help students who also would like to improve their english conversation skills.
