About Dylan

My name is Dylan Potter, I am an Orthodox Christian, and I am a linguistics student at Griffith University. I am 23 years old, and in my spare time enjoy reading, singing, attending church services, studying history and theology, and learning new languages. I intend, upon completing my bachelors degree, to do a double masters in theology and education, so that I can combine my love of the Lord with my love of languages and love of teaching in the future.
However, even before finishing my studies, I have had the blessing to begin teaching languages as a volunteer at the Saint Sava Serbian School since 2022, teaching the Serbian language to late-primary and early-high school aged students, and I rejoice greatly in seeing how they progress in learning their mother tongue and enjoy speaking it. I also assist the parish priest with giving the students a religious education while there. I also volunteer at Saint John of Kronstadt Academy, helping with liturgical services by reading, chanting, and altar serving.

In the price category I have written 20 dollars because it only accepts numbers, but as religious education is done for the sake of the Lord and not the tutor, I will accept any price offered, and am even willing to tutor this for free, as the Lord said "freely you have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8)

About the lesson

My focus is on helping students not only to understand what they read, and to pass their assessments, but even more importantly, on cultivating them as faithful servants of our Lord, God, and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I do put a focus on ensuring that the lessons are relevant to what they are currently learning at schools, however I try to ensure that these studies of the faith are done in accordance with Christian manner - all religious studies lessons begin and end with prayer, and are kept in line with the truth God has revealed through the Holy Scripture, but I also include the spiritual edification that comes from the examples of the Lives of the Saints, and the wisdom of the Holy Fathers of the Church, particularly those of the first five centuries.
A typical lesson would ideally be somewhere between 40 and 60 minutes, so that the student can get time to learn a sufficient amount but without being overloaded with information.
My lessons are for high school students, whether it be that they are struggling with their subjects at school, or if they have the desire to go deeper in what they are learning.
It should be noted that if I am being asked to tutor religious studies, I am assuming that the person asking is a Christian. I will not teach anything that contradicts with traditional Trinitarian Christianity; my beliefs are expressed by the Nicene Creed, and I refuse to teach anything in contradiction to this confession of faith.
