About Oscar
I have an academic background in applied linguistics and have a very open minded approach to languages and language learning. I used to be a nerd.
I have spent most of my professional life so far (that's about 20 + years of it...) working as a freelance in the field of marketing, advertising, sales, and consulting. I have developed a pretty open and direct way of interacting with students and I do my very best to keep it interesting.
Studying languages has helped me create the life I have now, and it has been a blessing - I always try to transfer this concept to all my students. It has also helped me work thru challenging times in my life, it is something you can always improve, will keep your mind sharp and the possibilities are endless!
Speaking another (or other) language(s) is a true Superpower!
In the era of AI, speaking a different language at a high level of proficiency will open doors to other opportunities!
Italian in particular has also the advantage of being so close to Latin that you will find it useful if you are interested in studying law or medicine, for example!
Knowing how memory works has helped me focus on the few elements that really matter when teaching a language, keeping it realistic, interesting and as fun as possible!
I will bring all my nerdiness to the table and get you where you need to be!

I teach advanced classes, entirely in Italian language. I will have you read an excerpt from the news or other specialized area, and then we will talk about it.
First, I will assess and help you with the reading and then we will look at vocabulary, structure, etc.
We then write a couple of lines regarding the topic, using the main words that we have found in the reading.
If you have a topic you need to know for work or research, we will analyze texts and excerpts from that specific field.
