About Banji

Teaching the English language is my thing, with child-friendly instructional materials. I also teach the Yoruba language, an African language from the southwest of Nigeria. My objective is to impart knowledge to beginners by introducing them to basic English grammar

My Approach to Tutoring (English Language, Ages 5-15)
As an English tutor for children aged 5 to 15, I focus on making learning engaging, interactive, and tailored to each child’s needs. My goal is to build confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and listening while fostering a love for English.
Techniques and Teaching Methodology
I use a child-centered, communicative approach, blending play-based and structured activities. For ages 5-8, I incorporate games, songs, stories, and visuals like flashcards to teach vocabulary and basic grammar. For 9-15-year-olds, I use discussions, role-playing, and projects like writing stories to build practical skills. Drawing from Total Physical Response (TPR) and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), I emphasize real-life language use over memorization. Lessons start with a warm-up, introduce new material with examples, and end with creative exercises or quizzes. Positive reinforcement and gentle corrections keep kids motivated.
Typical Length of a Lesson
Lessons last 45-60 minutes, tailored to attention spans: 45 minutes for 5-7-year-olds, up to an hour for 8-15-year-olds. Short breaks, like quick games, maintain focus. I teach one-on-one or in small groups (2-3 kids) for personalized attention, recommending 2-3 weekly sessions.
Qualifications/Experience
I hold a Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature and a TEFL certification for young learners. With over 8 years of tutoring experience, I’ve taught 200+ students in ESL settings, from online platforms to community centers. I’ve helped kids improve grades, pass exams like Cambridge Young Learners, and gain confidence. Parents value my patience and ability to engage diverse learners.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons suit children aged 5-15, from beginners to intermediate (A1-B1 CEFR levels). This includes native speakers needing support or non-native learners building foundational skills. I cater to homeschoolers, exam-preppers, or kids learning for fun. Lessons adapt for mild learning differences like ADHD but focus on younger learners rather than advanced teens or adults.
