About Jennifer (Yan)

Hi, my name is Jennifer (aka Yan). I’m a native Mandarin speaker with high proficiency in English and intermediate level of French. With over ten years of working experience, I have worked as tutor for undergraduate students, interpreter for C-level managers, Government ministries and MNCs. Meanwhile, I have over 5 years of brand management experience in China, which enriched me with business vocabulary in specific areas such as Marketing/Advertising/Food & Beverage/Consumer research. My tapestry of corporate commercial capabilities made me an ideal tutor for Mandarin learners pursuing careers in these sectors. As a mother of a 5-year-old, I’m also acquainted with school age children’s interests, hence I’m great at offering engaged tutoring to children. About the lesson

My tutoring approach is systematic yet adaptable, offering students the suitable content based on their focus and requests to progress at their own speed. One of my successful teaching approaches is to always build context in our learning materials, this is well appreciated by my previous students as they found this approach relevant and systematic for strengthening their conversational skills. My lesson is suitable for all levels and ages. A standard lesson is 1 hour for adults and 30 mins for younger children. Customised length could be arranged as per request.
