About Amelia

I am a certified Special Education teacher and academic coach with over a decade of experience supporting middle and high school students in both virtual and in-person settings. I specialize in helping learners who struggle with focus, organization, motivation, or confidence—and I approach every session with patience, structure, and a genuine belief that every student can succeed with the right support. Families trust me because I bring a high level of professionalism, preparation, and expertise to each lesson. I hold a graduate degree in Special Education, multiple state certifications, and extensive training in behavior support, executive functioning, and evidence-based instructional practices. I’ve also taught hundreds of students online, so my sessions are organized, predictable, and effective—even for students who typically have difficulty in virtual environments. What students appreciate most is my calm, encouraging teaching style. I break down complex tasks, explain concepts clearly, and create a judgment-free space where students feel safe making mistakes and asking questions. My goal is not just to help students understand the material, but to build the skills and confidence they need long term—planning, studying, self-advocacy, time management, and problem solving. Whether your student needs academic tutoring, executive-function coaching, or a structured partner to keep them on track, I bring the knowledge, consistency, and commitment needed to help them grow. You can feel confident that when you work with me, you’re working with an experienced professional who truly cares about your child’s success.

My Teaching Methods & Techniques
As a tutor, I focus on clear instruction, individualized support, and building confidence—especially for students who learn differently or need extra help staying organized, motivated, and focused. With over a decade of experience teaching grades 6–11 in a virtual public school, I specialize in making learning accessible, engaging, and manageable for neurodiverse students, including those with ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, or anxiety.

I use an evidence-based, student-centered approach that blends:
- Explicit instruction for new skills
- Chunking and scaffolding to make assignments feel doable
- Executive-function coaching (planning, prioritizing, task breakdown)
- Modeling & think-alouds so students can see the “how” behind the work
- Visual supports, graphic organizers, and guided templates
- Immediate, positive, corrective feedback
- Flexible pacing matched to each learner’s needs
- Strength-based strategies that help students feel successful quickly

My goal is always to help students understand the content and to learn the skills that make them more independent and confident.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I am not just a subject-area tutor—I’m a Special Education teacher, academic interventionist, behavior/executive function coach, and family-engagement specialist with extensive experience helping students who struggle in traditional settings.

What makes me different:
- Deep expertise in ADHD, Autism, and Learning Disabilities
- Skilled at motivating students who are unengaged, anxious, or behind
- Ability to teach content + skills + systems (study strategies, planning tools, organization)
- Experience working with students fully online—excellent at communicating clearly and keeping lessons structured and engaging
- Patient, calm, positive, and encouraging—no shame, no judgment, just solutions
- I create customized supports (visuals, templates, planners) tailored to each student
- Strong ability to turn overwhelmed students into confident, successful learners

Students describe my sessions as “comfortable,” “non-stressful,” and “actually helpful,” and many see academic progress within the first few lessons.

Who My Lessons Are For
I work with:
- Middle school & high school students (grades 6–12)
- Neurodivergent learners (ADHD, ASD, dyslexia indicators, anxiety)
- Students who need executive function coaching (organization, planning, task initiation)
- Students who need support in:
• Reading comprehension
• Writing skills
• Algebra I / Geometry
• Study skills & test prep
• Online learning strategies
• College students needing executive function coaching or writing support
• Parents seeking guidance on how to support their child academically

Whether your student needs help understanding a difficult concept, catching up on missing work, improving organization, or building confidence, I create lessons tailored to their unique needs.
