About Tom
I am a Level 5 TEFL-qualified English teacher from the UK with a professional background in communication, marketing, management and community engagement.
Throughout my career I have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds, from training and supporting staff to working with healthcare representatives, community leaders and members of the public. These experiences have taught me how important it is to communicate clearly, listen carefully and adapt the way I explain something to the individual.
I decided to qualify as an English teacher because I enjoy working with people and helping others develop their skills and confidence. I am friendly, patient and approachable, and I want my students to feel comfortable speaking English without worrying about making mistakes.
Having recently completed my Level 5 TEFL qualification, my training is current and includes lesson planning, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and teaching speaking, listening, reading and writing. I am happy working with both children and adults and can tailor lessons around each student’s interests, ability and goals.

My lessons are friendly, engaging and personalised to each learner’s individual needs, goals and level of English. As a Level 5 TEFL-qualified teacher, I use a communicative approach that encourages students to actively use English and build confidence rather than simply memorising rules.
For children and younger learners, I aim to make lessons enjoyable and interactive, using age-appropriate activities, vocabulary, speaking practice and clear explanations to maintain interest and encourage participation.
For adults, lessons can focus on conversational English, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading and writing, depending on your goals. I can also support learners who want to develop their English for work, interviews, presentations and everyday professional communication.
Lessons will be adapted to your ability and learning style, whether you are building confidence with everyday English or working towards more advanced fluency. My aim is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel comfortable speaking, asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
