About Sydney

Hello! I'm Sydney, and I'm excited to be your tutor. With a passion for teaching and a strong academic background, my teaching approach is rooted in personalised learning, engaging lessons, and a strong commitment to your success. I am in my sixth year at boarding school, which has enabled me to be responsible and have excellent time management. This also means that I am very flexible with my teaching schedule, especially in the evenings.

I want to teach because I am genuinely passionate about sharing knowledge and helping students succeed. Education is a powerful tool that can open doors to countless opportunities, and I want to be a part of that journey for my students. My own academic achievements, including scoring all 9s in 11 GCSE subjects, have given me a deep understanding of effective learning strategies and the dedication required to excel. I believe that every student has the potential to thrive academically with the right guidance and support, and I am excited to be a part of that growth and achievement.

I am committed to maintaining open and transparent lines of communication with both students and parents. I believe that regular updates and discussions about progress, challenges, and goals are essential for tailoring my teaching approach to meet the unique needs of each student.

About the lesson

I would begin by assessing the student's current knowledge and understanding of each subject to identify their strengths and areas that need improvement. Based on the assessment, I would create customised lesson plans that are tailored to the student's needs and learning style. Each lesson would have clear learning objectives, but I will keep students engaged through interactive activities and games to make the subjects relatable and interesting. I would assign homework and practice exercises to reinforce what the student has learned during the lesson, providing feedback afterwards.

The length of each lesson can be flexible, ranging from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the preference of the student and their level of concentration.

I have a strong academic background, having achieved all 9s in 11 subjects at GCSE, which demonstrates my proficiency in various subjects. I have received a fair share of tutoring throughout my life, and participated in mentoring programs at my school, and while this may not be the most extensive tutoring experience, my own academic achievements showcase my ability to excel in these subjects and my potential as an effective tutor.

My lessons are primarily aimed at primary school children, typically ranging from ages 6 to 11. I can provide tutoring in math, English, science, French, and 11+ preparation.
