About Chloe

I work seasonally for WJEC as an external examiner for As and A Level Psychology, marking on both Unit 2 and Unit 4 modules. This experience provides me with extensive knowledge on exam technique, allowing me to have a developed understanding of what examination boards are looking for. I specialise in the WJEC exam board, however, I have also worked with AQA (private tutoring) and Agored Cymru (lecturer role).

Recently I have worked as a Psychology Lecturer within a team of Psychology and Criminology, within this post I had around 60 students. This position was in Ebbw Vale (South Wales Valleys), which is a deprived area of the UK, therefore I have a lot of experience with a variety of learning abilities.

I was previously the head of Psychology and Sociology at one of the most successful private sixth form colleges in the UK. Therefore, I also have a variety of experience in both the private and public sector, having worked in both the city (Cardiff) and rural areas in the Valleys (Aberdare, Mountain ash). As a result, I have worked with students from a wide array of abilities and backgrounds, ranging from high achieving A* to E grade. I have also tutored online with great feedback, moving one student from a D grade up to an A grade in the space of a few weeks with positive feedback from both student and his parents.

I adopt a student-centred approach to teaching, meaning I tailor each lesson and task to the student and their individual needs and requirements. I use a gentle approach which is based on positive reinforcement and creating a rapport between tutor and learner to enable the most effective learning environment. I ensure I create a learning environment where students are able to figure out the answer through prompting and questioning, allowing for maximum retention and internalisation of the lesson content. Lessons would be enjoyable and interactive, rather than purely informative. I place an importance on critical thinking and conveying this in essays. I can assist greatly in terms of evaluation essays or evaluation based subjects. I also have a variety of revision techniques and tips as we approach exam season.

I have recently taught WJEC A level Psychology and Sociology, therefore I have full comprehension of the curriculum. I am regularly in contact with the WJEC subject officer so I am fully up to date with any amendments.

I have also taught English as a Second Language so I have experience with students who may not be native English speakers, or of a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and religions. I can also assist in essay/academic writing, literature reviews, or critical and evaluative writing.

About the lesson

I have a postgraduate qualification in teaching and a psychology bachelor degree of a high standard. I am able to explain complex theories and ideas in an understandable way, using your everyday experiences to assist in your understanding. I use an approach based on student-centered learning and each lesson will be tailored to your specific needs that day.
