About Fabian

I'm Fabian, a Physics graduate from UCL (First Class Honours) and an actuarial analyst with 5 years' experience at EY, specialising in Life Actuarial work and insurance audit. Maths and science have been at the heart of everything I've done — from my degree, through professional actuarial exams, to my day-to-day work in the corporate world.

Outside of my career, I'm passionate about helping students build genuine confidence in maths and science, not just get through exams. I also enjoy mentoring students who are curious about life beyond the classroom — whether that's pursuing further study or breaking into graduate schemes and apprenticeships. I'm patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in seeing my students succeed.

About the lesson

My teaching style is built around clarity, structure, and genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation. I start each lesson by identifying exactly where a student's understanding breaks down, then work through targeted examples that build up from first principles to exam-style questions. I place a strong emphasis on exam technique — how to read a question properly, structure a full-marks answer, and manage time under pressure — alongside developing real conceptual understanding, since the two go hand in hand for top grades.

Lessons typically run for 60 minutes, which gives enough time to review recent work, tackle new material, and finish with practice questions — though I'm happy to adapt session length to suit individual needs, especially closer to exams.

My own background underpins how I teach. I hold a First Class Physics Masters degree from UCL and have spent 5 years working as an actuarial analyst at EY across Life Actuarial and insurance audit — meaning I've used advanced maths and scientific reasoning professionally every day, not just academically. This gives me a practical perspective on why these subjects matter and how they're applied beyond the classroom.

I teach GCSE Science and A-Level Maths and Physics, working with students of all ability levels — from those needing to close gaps and build confidence, to high achievers aiming for top grades. Beyond the syllabus, I also offer mentorship for students interested in graduate schemes or apprenticeships in the corporate world, drawing on my own experience navigating recruitment and career progression at a Big 4 firm.
