About Ben

First Class BSc. in Mathematics with Honours. Competent and capable.

My goal is to teach you to understand the mathematics, and (where possible) use some tips-and-tricks to help you double check your answers are correct — yes, even in the exam! A good, exam board approved, calculator is all you need to know for a certainty if your solution is correct; assuming you know how to use it properly.

About the lesson

My approach depends on the student, but generally, I've found that the first step to learning something is understanding the background: why are we learning this? Why is it useful? How is this applied?

Then focus on the method, and examples of that method, repeat and practise is critical. Once you've memorised how to apply the method you're well on your way to an excellent grade!

Finally, consolidate your knowledge. Understand why the method work and the theory behind it. This allows you to apply the method in more difficult or challenging circumstances and helps you reach those top grades!
