About Gene
I’m a friendly, patient and approachable person who genuinely enjoys helping others learn and build their confidence. I know first-hand that academic performance doesn’t always reflect a student’s potential. When I was at sixth form, I was initially predicted CCD, but through changing my approach to studying, improving my exam technique and working consistently, I went on to achieve AAB in my A Levels, including an A in Business.
That experience is a big part of why I want to tutor. I understand how frustrating it can feel when you know you’re capable of more but aren’t getting the results you want. I want to help students identify what is holding them back and find an approach that works for them, whether that means improving their understanding of the content, developing exam technique or simply building confidence.
Having recently completed my own A Levels and degree, I can offer a student-friendly approach and explain concepts in a clear and straightforward way. I want lessons to feel relaxed and supportive while still helping students make genuine progress towards their goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I aim to make Business Studies straightforward and engaging by breaking down difficult concepts and connecting them to real-world businesses and examples. Lessons can focus on understanding key topics, improving exam technique, practising exam questions, developing strong analysis and evaluation, or preparing for upcoming exams.
A particular focus will be placed on learning how to structure answers effectively and apply your knowledge to the specific question, helping you turn your understanding of the subject into marks. Whether you’re struggling with a particular topic, looking to improve your exam technique or aiming for a higher grade, I’ll adapt each lesson to focus on the areas where you can make the most progress.
