About Mariam
Hi! I'm a fifth-year medical student at Benha University in Egypt, and I've successfully passed USMLE Step 1.
I help students understand challenging biological and medical concepts through clear explanations, logical connections, active recall, and question-based learning. My goal is to help you understand not only what happens, but why it happens and how to apply that knowledge.

For four years, I've volunteered with an online educational initiative, explaining medical topics to students in my own and junior classes. This experience has helped me develop a teaching style focused on simplifying complex concepts, organizing challenging material, and explaining mechanisms step by step. I've also received positive feedback on my explanations.
1. Biology & International Curricula
I can help students review Biology topics, understand difficult concepts, and practise relevant questions across different levels and curricula.
- IGCSE Biology: Core biological concepts, syllabus revision, practical-related concepts, and exam-style questions.
- A-Level Biology: Advanced concepts in cell biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, and other syllabus topics.
- IB Biology (SL/HL): Key concepts, connections between topics, course revision, and exam-style practice.
- AP Biology: Cell processes, genetics, evolution, ecology, and other major topics covered by the curriculum.
- GCSE Biology: Foundational concepts, topic revision, and assessment preparation.
- General & Introductory Biology: Cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and human biology.
- University-Level Biology: Support with relevant life science topics based on your course and learning objectives.
2. Basic Medical Sciences
I can help medical and pre-medical students understand foundational medical subjects and connect concepts across disciplines.
- Anatomy: Human body structures, organs, systems, and anatomical relationships.
- Physiology: How body systems function and maintain homeostasis.
- Biochemistry: Biomolecules, enzymes, metabolism, and biochemical pathways.
- Histology: Microscopic structure of tissues and organs.
- Embryology: Human development from fertilization through organ formation.
- Cell Biology & Molecular Biology: Cellular processes, DNA, gene expression, and molecular mechanisms.
- Genetics: Inheritance, mutations, genetic disorders, and molecular genetics.
- Pathology: Mechanisms of disease and the structural and functional changes they cause.
- Pharmacology: Drug mechanisms, actions, uses, and adverse effects.
- Microbiology: Bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other clinically relevant microorganisms.
- Immunology: Immune system function, immune responses, and related disorders.
3. Clinical Medical Sciences
I can support medical students in reviewing clinical subjects, understanding disease mechanisms, and connecting symptoms, investigations, and management principles.
- Internal Medicine: Common medical conditions, clinical presentations, and underlying pathophysiology.
- General Surgery: Surgical conditions, clinical assessment, and fundamental management principles.
- Pediatrics: Childhood diseases, growth and development, and common pediatric presentations.
- Obstetrics & Gynecology: Pregnancy, childbirth, reproductive health, and common gynecological conditions.
- Cardiology: Cardiovascular diseases, clinical findings, and relevant physiology.
- Respiratory Medicine: Respiratory disorders, pulmonary physiology, and clinical presentations.
- Neurology: Neurological conditions, neuroanatomy, and clinical localization.
- Endocrinology: Hormonal disorders and endocrine pathophysiology.
- Nephrology: Renal physiology, electrolyte disturbances, and kidney diseases.
- Gastroenterology: Digestive system disorders and their underlying mechanisms.
- Hematology: Blood disorders, anemia, and coagulation.
- Infectious Diseases: Common infections, diagnostic principles, and antimicrobial concepts.
Clinical lessons can focus on lecture review, understanding disease mechanisms, organizing differential diagnoses, and practising relevant questions, depending on the topic and your learning objectives.
4. USMLE Step 1 Support
As a USMLE Step 1 passer, I can help you:
- Review high-yield basic science concepts.
- Understand difficult mechanisms and connect related subjects.
- Work through practice questions and explain answer choices.
- Identify gaps in understanding and strengthen your reasoning.
- Build a more organized approach to reviewing challenging topics.
My Teaching Approach
My lessons are tailored to your current level, goals, and areas of difficulty. Depending on your needs, we can use clear step-by-step explanations, logical connections, active recall, and practice questions.
I focus on helping you understand concepts rather than simply memorize information, while adapting the pace and depth of each lesson to your needs.
