About Swapnil

I didn't learn photography in a classroom. I learned it by chasing light across monastery courtyards in the Himalayas, wandering through ancient forts in Rajasthan at dusk, and sitting with communities in Sri Lanka until the moment revealed itself.

I'm Swapnil — a documentary and editorial photographer based in Himachal Pradesh, India. My work spans landscapes, portraiture, and reportage across South Asia, and when I'm not shooting, I run Studio Rain Town, an independent recording studio and artist residency tucked into the mountains of Bir and McLeodganj. Creativity, in every form, is genuinely how I live.
Photography pulled me in because it sits at the intersection of seeing and feeling — and post-processing is where that vision gets fully realized. Lightroom and Photoshop aren't just tools I teach; they're part of my daily practice. Every editorial series I deliver, every landscape I finish, goes through the same workflow I'll walk you through in our sessions.

What I've found teaching one-on-one is that most people don't lack talent — they lack the bridge between what they captured and what they imagined. That bridge is editing, and it's entirely learnable.

I teach because I genuinely love watching that click happen for someone. The moment a student stops fighting their software and starts using it like a language — that's what keeps me doing this.

If you're drawn to photography that feels intentional, unhurried, and honest, I think we'll get along well.

If you've ever looked at your raw photos and felt they didn't match what you actually saw, this is where that changes.
I'm a documentary and editorial photographer with years of active shooting across the Himalayas, Rajasthan, and Sri Lanka — with work spanning landscape, portraiture, reportage, and travel. I use Lightroom and Photoshop daily, not theoretically, and my teaching reflects that.

What I can help you with:

- Lightroom fundamentals: raw processing, color grading, tone curves, masking, and batch workflows

- Photoshop essentials: retouching, compositing, sky replacement, and non-destructive editing

- Building a consistent editing style / visual identity across your work

- Organizing and culling shoots efficiently

- Exporting for print, web, Instagram, and editorial submission
Developing your eye — learning why certain edits work, not just how

Who this is for:

Beginners who've just picked up a camera and feel overwhelmed by the software. Intermediate photographers who want to move faster and more intentionally. Hobbyists, travel photographers, aspiring documentary or portrait photographers, and content creators who want their images to look considered rather than filtered.

How sessions work:

All lessons are online, one-on-one, and entirely structured around your images and your goals. No generic exercises — we work on your actual photos from the first session. I'll share my screen, walk through my own workflow, and guide you through yours in real time. Sessions can be focused on a single skill or structured as a progressive course.

First lesson: I offer a free introductory session so we can meet, discuss where you are, and map out what you want to achieve before you commit to anything.
