About Florent
About Me Hi, I’m Florent Tarrieux, a music producer, composer, and artist based in California. With a strong foundation in sound design, music production, and performance, I’ve composed scores for theater plays, live shows, and opening credits sequences, while also producing the sound design and music score for all of my films. As a keyboardist in a French band and through my own electronic music project, Mycolydian, I bring hands-on experience to my lessons. I also have a background in art direction, screenwriting, and motion design, giving me a multidisciplinary approach to teaching. I believe music production is not only about mastering software and techniques, but about expressing your unique voice and creativity through sound. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I’m excited to guide you in developing both the technical and creative aspects of music production, helping you bring your musical ideas to life.

About the Lessons
In these music production lessons, you’ll learn to create your own tracks from start to finish using Ableton Live. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, my approach blends music theory, audio recording, and production workflow into a cohesive learning experience.
My Teaching Method
I focus on both the technical and creative sides of music production. We’ll explore music theory to enhance your understanding of harmony, melody, and rhythm, while diving into Ableton Live’s powerful tools to record, arrange, and mix your music. I’ll also guide you through building an efficient workflow that suits your creative process and maximizes your productivity.
Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson typically includes:
Introduction to key concepts (e.g., music theory basics, recording techniques)
Hands-on practice with Ableton Live (exploring tools like MIDI, synthesis, audio effects, and editing)
A focused project or assignment to help you apply what you’ve learned (e.g., creating a short track or remix)
Feedback and next steps for your music production journey
What Sets Me Apart
I combine a solid foundation in sound design and music production with a focus on creative expression and efficient workflow. My experience composing for theater, live shows, and films allows me to bring practical, real-world knowledge into the classroom. I don’t just teach software—my lessons are designed to help you build your unique sound and artistic identity while mastering the tools of the trade.
I emphasize hands-on learning, providing tailored exercises that match your creative goals, whether that’s crafting a full track, recording live instruments, or experimenting with electronic production. I also focus on developing a structured workflow to ensure you stay productive and inspired, using techniques from my own experience with performance and my project, Mycolydian.
By combining technical mastery with a deep understanding of the creative process, I aim to help you confidently navigate the production process from idea to finished track.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I reached out to Florent regarding Ableton Live, and he was extremely knowledgeable and felt very current with the program and its utility. Each lesson was very easy to grasp as he was pretty much very attentive in what i'm actually retaining, and that each lesson was not too dense. As someone who is not so tech-friendly, he made it very easy to learn a computer program from scratch. Not only that, he is super patient and hilarious along the way.
