About Athena
Hi! I’m Athena, and I’m passionate about making Chinese feel approachable, practical, and fun.
I know learning a new language can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when it comes to tones, pronunciation, or speaking out loud. That’s why I try to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where you can ask anything, make mistakes, and learn without pressure.
I’m patient, friendly, and easy to talk to, but I also take your progress seriously. I’ll pay attention to the areas you struggle with, explain things in a simple way, and adjust our lessons based on your goals and learning style.
More than just being your tutor, I hope I can also be the Chinese-speaking friend you feel comfortable practicing with. Whether you want to learn Chinese for school, travel, culture, work, or simply for fun, I’d love to help you become more confident step by step.
No judgment, no awkward textbook conversations — just useful Chinese, real practice, and hopefully lots of laughs along the way!

My lessons are relaxed, interactive, and personalized to you. I want learning Chinese to feel less like sitting in a classroom and more like talking with a friend who also happens to be helping you improve your Mandarin.
We’ll still work seriously on pronunciation, tones, vocabulary, grammar, reading, and speaking, but we’ll practice them through real conversations and topics you actually enjoy. We might talk about food, travel, Chinese culture, music, dramas, social media, or simply what happened in your week.
I’ll gently correct your mistakes, explain things clearly, and help you sound more natural instead of just memorizing textbook sentences. Depending on your level, lessons can also include role-play, mini games, pronunciation challenges, and real-life situations such as ordering food, shopping, travelling, or chatting with Chinese-speaking friends.
My goal is to create a comfortable space where you’re not afraid to make mistakes, ask questions, or just have fun speaking Chinese. You’ll learn seriously, but it won’t feel overly serious!
