About Kanna

Hiii I'm Kanna! I’m passionate about language learning, having fun, and connecting with people from all over the world. Currently, I’m teaching Japanese every day from Australia!

With a proven track record of over 1,600 total hours of online teaching experience (1,500+ Japanese lessons and 100+ English lessons), I have developed a structured yet flexible approach to help students achieve fluency quickly and effectively.

I studied Law and Global Politics at university, and in 2022, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in New York for about a year through an exchange program. While there, I took classes in politics, health & wellness, and Taekwondo, and joined a Kickline and Hip-hop performance team. It was an unforgettable experience! Back in Japan, I started teaching Japanese on Preply while I was still a student. I enjoyed my studies so much that I graduated in 2024 at the top of my class. Alongside teaching Japanese, I also teach English mainly to learners in Asia. Right now, I’m working hard to learn Chinese from scratch, so I really understand what it feels like to learn a new language.

It’s something I’m going through too, in real time! I love traveling, weight training, and dancing. I’ve visited Niagara Falls in Canada and Taipei in Taiwan, and I hope to explore many more countries. I find so much joy in connecting with people online and helping them learn Japanese through meaningful conversations. I was born and raised in the Tokyo area, and I also studied Shinto and Japanese culture in depth at university, so if you're curious about Japan, you’re in good hands!

Oh, and for fun: I can deadlift 100 kg! My goal is to build strong, muscular arms. I’ve also been dancing for over 10 years, hip-hop and cheerleading dance, especially. Dancing is like another language for me because it helps me connect with people, even when we don’t share the same words If you join my Japanese lessons, I’ll do my best to get to know you little by little and create a wonderful Japanese learning experience just for you!
