About Miah

I'm Miah Palmer, a professional drummer and author with 30+ years of real-world experience spanning rock, blues, funk, and everything in between. I've performed on live television, opened for artists like Steve Vai and L.A. Guns, and worked alongside Grammy-nominated producers — and now I bring that experience directly to my students. I teach drummers of all levels, from absolute beginners picking up sticks for the first time to advanced players looking to sharpen their technique, timing, and musicality. My approach is patient, practical, and tailored to each student's goals, whether that's learning your favorite songs, building a solid foundation, or preparing for professional work. About the lesson

My lessons cover three core areas: rudiments, drum set techniques, and chart reading/writing—all reinforced with essential music theory. My #1 goal is to make learning fun while guiding students toward their musical passions and building real proficiency along the way. With teaching experience spanning ages 4 to 70 and institutions from local music stores to Musicians Institute, I'm equipped to work with students at every skill level. Angel is brand new to playing music, yet seems like a natural. After 15 minutes she's already playing 8th on the hi hats and quarters on the kick drum with no prior experience on the drums. Looking forward to seeing what the musical future holds for her.

Perfect! Miah was just was I was looking for, within minutes of the lesson I already felt comfortable and was learning things about the drums I never knew existed and could only be demonstrated in person. No question was a dumb one and he answered everything I asked. I learned a lot from our 1st lesson and have some homework to do and looking forward to learning more from him. Highly recommend him to any drummer looking to learn and have fun at the same time!
