About Poppy

I am a French tutor with over 4 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Education in French as a Second Language. Over the years, I have worked with many complete beginners, helping them take their very first steps in learning French. My approach is patient, encouraging, and sprinkled with humor to make every lesson enjoyable. I believe language learning should never feel dull. That’s why I use games, skits, flashcards, and storytelling to bring grammar and vocabulary to life. These methods keep students engaged while also making difficult concepts easier to remember. I focus not only on the technical aspects of French but also on building confidence for everyday communication. Many of my students have started shy and hesitant, but with consistent practice, they learn to express themselves clearly and naturally. Seeing their confidence grow is the most rewarding part of my work. I adapt my lessons to each learner’s pace and personality, creating a safe space where mistakes are welcomed as part of the process. My goal is to make students feel that French is not just a subject, but a tool they can enjoy using. About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on making French learning enjoyable, practical, and easy to follow. I believe every student can succeed when lessons are structured around their personal goals. Whether you are just starting out or already at an intermediate level, I design lessons that build steadily on your strengths. I place strong emphasis on the basics, such as grammar, verb conjugation, and vocabulary, while also integrating listening comprehension and pronunciation practice. At the same time, I make lessons engaging by including French slang, idiomatic expressions, and cultural insights, so you can understand the language in real contexts. For students preparing to travel, I provide focused training on everyday phrases and real-life situations to help them feel confident abroad. For learners seeking long-term improvement, I create exercises that strengthen fluency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening. I also support those who need French for settling into a new environment, as well as learners who are studying it out of personal interest or passion. In every case, I adapt my teaching to fit the student’s pace, needs, and style of learning. Each session is interactive, encouraging students to practice, make mistakes, and grow with confidence. My role is to guide, motivate, and provide practical tools that make French not only easier to learn, but also more enjoyable to use. With patience, encouragement, and consistent practice, I help learners excel in French and use it successfully in everyday life.
