About Anna-Alexis
Students deserve a transformative, meaningful learning experience, and I work hard to motivate them to cultivate the intrinsic rewards as much as the external ones, because that is key to effective lifelong learning and personal drive. While teaching English, we can also discuss developing flow in life and a flow mindset for higher productivity, strategies for well-being, and study skills. I began teaching English at the college level full-time in 2012. Additionally, I have been a graduate writing consultant (15 hours/week) for 5 years.

In our first session, we will discuss your desired learning outcomes and I will draft a flexible outline for student progress. I will want to know how you describe your learning style and will tailor the lesson that follows our short interview to accommodate your described strengths and challenges. Learning session (imagining we have 40 minutes together: 10-Minute Warm up: Concept review, housekeeping, and any notes about homework. 25-Minute Main Activity: We will complete an activity together that involves learning and integrating key concepts related to your learning outcome goals in an application, tailored to you, that enables you to integrate new material into your own knowledge framework. 5-Minute Debrief and Homework Prep: I typically ask you to complete a short assignment, called a "Classroom Assessment Technique," essentially a quiz or questionnaire that measures the success of the lesson and tracks progress.
