About Emre

I'm an undergraduate studying Economics at the University of Warwick. I'm 21 and I've been playing chess since I was 7.
I have won a gold medal at the British Universities' Chess Championship 2019.
I have an ECF (English Chess Federation) rating of 136 and a FIDE (World Chess Federation) Rating of 1498.
I also play chess online and I have a Lichess Rapid Rating of 1986.
I'm an active player at the Warwick Chess Team.

About the lesson

I will take you to a journey throughout the history of a 1300 year old game: chess. We will talk about how it all started, first examples of chess pieces and boards from over the world, we will see a special exhibition from the British Museum, we will explore the first chess masters, development of chess, how it influenced the cold war and what made Bobby Fischer so special...

By learning chess history, you will not only develop your general knowledge but also improve your interest in the game!
