About Christopher
Hi, my name is Christopher Quinn. I'm a bass player and freelance musician and for the past few years I've been working with several projects all over the UK. I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in jazz with honours of the first class in 2024. I was also a recipient of the Alan McAuley jazz award for career development upon finishing my studies. Since then, I've become one of the most in-demand musicians in Glasgow, where I'm based.
I've worked as a sideman - recording and performing - in several projects of varying styles, including: Jazz, Rock, Punk, Indie, Metal, Funk, Bluegrass, Folk, Hip-Hop, Pop, Soul, Jungle, DnB and more.
I remember when I was starting out, I was largely self-taught until my late teens because I couldn't find a bass teacher! At least one that wasn't a guitarist with some basic knowledge of the bass. I want to teach because I want to help enthusiastic bass players reach their potential by providing the opportunity that I didn't have.

I believe the best way to learn music is to enjoy your practice. I don't think it should be a chore to practise, more like a form of meditation. When I began to learn bass, I got better just by playing along to my favourite music. Music is a language, and you can't learn a language from a textbook - you learn by speaking, listening and immersing yourself in the culture.
I tailor lessons around the student and their needs. If you are an intermediate musician inspired by a particular genre, style or artist, then I'll give you meaningful practice techniques that will help you build the dexterity in order to achieve the sound you like. If you're a total beginner or you're not sure what you like, that's cool too! I can help you find what inspires you and we can work from there.
I teach out of my lovely flat in the Southside of Glasgow, in my rehearsal/studio space 15 minutes walk from Glasgow Central, or alternatively I can do Zoom lessons. I teach in 30/60 minute blocks.
